Two Suites from Banchetto Musicale (nos. 5 + 11) -sc. Contributors: Schein. Recorder Quintets (SSATB). Score. Publisher's category: Recorder Quintets.

Johann Hermann Schein was born at Griinhain in the Erzgebirge on January 20, 1586. In 1616 he became cantor of St. Thomas church in Leipzig, where he remained until his early death in 1630.
Schein wrote numerous motets, sacred anthems, and secular songs and is regarded together with Paul Peueri (MK00024) as the creator of the suite of variations in four or five movements. The two suites printed here are nos. 5 and 11 in Scheins extensive instrumental work "Banchetto musicale", which appeared in 1617.
