Z metamorphosis by Minas Borboudakis is a 22-minute work for large orchestra ((3(1/2/3,Picc,AFl,BFl).2(1/2,CorA).3(1/BCl/3,CBCl).2(1/2,CBsn) -- 4.2(1,PiccTpt/2).3(1/2/BTrbn).0 -- Timp. 3 Perc -- Pf(=Sampler) -- EGtr -- Str), in which sound material and musical gestures from the composer's opera Z are transformed into a symphonic amalgam. Vocal lines, dialogues, as well as the musical theatre's linguistic style function like a net behind the music and form a large-scale symphonic flow in Metamorphosis, in which language becomes music and music becomes language.

Z metamorphosis was premiered in Salzburg on 16 January 2022 by the Mozarteum Orchestra conducted by Constantinos Carydis.
